A Solar Water Heater is a solar device typically used in residential areas. That’s why, its main function is to convert the solar energy coming from the sun to heat the water. Because of this it can be used in respective home rooftops.

Details

  • A solar water heater is a device that converts the sun’s energy (Solar) and uses it to heat water. Typically these kind of systems are used in residential rooftops.
  • The working is based on collecting the sun energy by the collector panels which converts the sun rays into heat which in turn make the water warm by circulation.

The solar water heater are of two types

  • Direct Circulation Systems – This system uses pump to supply water to the collector. The water is heated and used in the house.
  • Indirect Circulation Systems – This system also uses pump but doesn’t supply the water directly. It uses a circulation fluid which goes to collector. The fluid then goes to a heat exchanger where it transfers the heat to make the water warm.
  • The proper installation of solar water heaters depends on many factors. These factors include solar resource, climate, local building code requirements, and safety issues; therefore, it’s best to have a qualified solar thermal systems contractor install your system.
  • Regular maintenance on simple systems can be as infrequent as every 3–5 years, preferably by a solar contractor. Systems with electrical components usually require a replacement part or two after 10 years.

Collector of flat plates
Glazed flat-plate collectors are weatherproofed, insulated boxes with a dark absorber plate hidden under one or more glass or plastic (polymer) coverings. Unglazed flat-plate collectors, which are commonly used for solar pool heating, contain a dark absorber plate composed of metal or polymer that is not covered or encased.

Collector-storage systems with integrated collectors
Coldwater is first preheated by passing it through the solar collector. The water is then sent to the standard backup water heater, which provides a consistent stream of hot water. They should only be put in mild-freeze areas since the exterior pipes can freeze in extreme temperatures.

Solar collectors using evacuated tubes
They are made up of parallel rows of clear glass tubes. Each tube is made up of a glass outer tube and a metal absorber tube that is linked to a fin. The coating on the fin captures solar energy while preventing radiative heat loss.

FPC Solar Water Heating System
A solar water heater is that uses solar radiation to heat water. It consists of a flat plate collector and an insulated storage tank. Solar radiation is transported through the cover plate (toughened glass) in the Flat Plate Collector, where it is absorbed by the Copper Absorber and transformed to heat, which is then passed to the water inside the absorber tube. As a result, solar radiation heats the water. Hot water is stored in an insulated Hot Water Storage Tank, from which we may draw hot water as needed. The majority of water heating systems rely on the greenhouse effect and the thermosyphon concept.

System of Solar Water Heating (ETC)
A solar water heater is a device that uses solar radiation to heat water. It consists of an evacuated glass tube and a high-quality PUF-insulated GI/SS storage tank. Solar energy passes through the cover plate of an evacuated tube collector and is absorbed directly by the water inside the selectively coated absorber tube. As a result, water is directly heated by solar energy. Hot water is kept in a high-quality PUF-insulated Hot Water Storage Tank, from which we may draw hot water as needed. The water heating system is primarily based on the thermosyphon concept.

Solar Water Heater Advantages

  • Even on cloudy days, water can be heated. To heat the water, the solar heater makes advantage of dispersed energy in the environment.
  • You can lessen your carbon impact.
  • You won’t have to bother about upkeep. Solar water heaters require little to no upkeep.
  • You’ll recoup your investment in 4–7 years on average, and you’ll start making money from then on.
  • It’s a one-time investment that pays off big time. Solar water heaters have a lifespan of 15–20 years.
  • You save money on your power costs by lowering your use.
  • Some governments sometimes provide rebates on power bills as a means of encouraging more people to utilize renewable energy.
  • Because hot water is not dependent on energy, you can obtain it even if there is a power outage.
